Château Talbot has a rich history. Its name originates with Connétable Talbot, a famous English warrior, governor of Guyenne, defeated at the battle of Castillon in 1453.

In 1855, Château Talbot was ranked fourth classified growth of Saint-Julien. For several decades it belonged to the Marquis of Aux. In 1917 Désiré Cordier acquired it. His son Georges, then his grandson, Jean, followed him at the head of the estate. Under their guidance, Talbot became one of the most famous growths in the Bordeaux region.

The Château Talbot vineyard is a real treasure, covering 110 hectares of vines all in one piece, in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. These vines, aged 45 years on average, have an ideal location on the edge of the Gironde estuary, planted on ridges of Médoc gravel and alluvial deposits. This is the second wine from Chateau Talbot. The nose presents aromas of blackberries, chocolate and oak with a hint of vanilla. 

 

Vinification - Manual harvest. Successive manual and optical sorting. Vinification in oak vats.

The blend - Cabernet sauvignon, merlot.

The ageing - 15 months in barrels, of which 60% is new French oak.
